The Castle Singers formed in 1994 from the old Wirral Choral Society. We sing to raise money for charity, and just because we enjoy singing, as the following extract from our constitution shows.

Aims

  • to provide an opportunity for those who enjoy choral singing to meet regularly for that purpose

  • to encourage members to develop their singing skills through regular practice

  • to perform at least four major concerts each year in order to raise money for local charities

  • to perform incidental concerts in other venues on an ad hoc basis as requested by local charitable organisations

  • to engage, through membership of the National Association of Choirs, in other associated activities as and when they arise

Since our formation we have raised over £70,000 for various charities.

We are mixed choir, with about 60 voices. Our repertoire is very varied, including sacred music, folk songs, songs from the shows, and Gilbert & Sullivan. We hope there is something to please everyone.

We have sung abroad, featured in a film, and cut a CD.

We meet for practice on Mondays, 7.30 to 9.30, at the United Reformed Church, Heswall, Wirral. New members are always welcome.

If you represent a charity and would like us to give a concert to raise funds for your organisation, please contact our manager/secretary Pat Deakin. Our services are free: you organise it - we will come and sing.

As members of the Wales North / Cheshire West Group, we are affiliated to the National Association of Choirs.
